Tulsa Okla. (September 11. 2018) - September has arrived and with it comes the annual event at the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada Oklahoma as the 12th running of the Oklahoma State Championship featuring the AMERI-FLEX / OCRS sprint cars take to the dirt oval.

Tuttle Oklahoma's Shane Sellers is scheduled to defend his OSC title that he conquered last year. The win kept the race a family affair as father Robert (Sellers) won the event in 2016. Shane also scored a win at OSP this past May when he won the 10th Annual Harold Leep Jr. Memorial. Between both Sellers pilots, they have won the last five AMERI-FLEX / OCRS events held at the racetrack.

Zach Chappell, who was last years runner-up to Sellers in the OSC race will attempt to earn his first OSC victory lane trip. Chappell is coming off the most recent win in the series having won over the Labor Day weekend at the Caney Valley Speedway. Chappell is also second in points sitting just 60 markers behind series points leader Alex Sewell who is not just looking for his first OSC win, but his first win of any kind at the track. Previous winners of this event that are expected to be on hand for an attempt at another triumph include Whit Gastineau (a 3-time winner) and Gary Owens.

Race fans will have this final opportunity to see sprint cars blaze their way around the ultra quick oval in 2018 as the last events remaining for the tracks 2018 season do not have sprint cars scheduled. As usual with AMERI-FLEX / OCRS racing events, there will be prizes given away by the racing series during the program making for a night of great entertainment for the whole family. Race time is set for 7:30pm and will also include OSP's regular classes of modifieds and stock car divisions.

THE 24 MINUTE ENGINE CHANGE -

At the Sprint Spectacular Summer Showdown on Labor Day weekend at the Caney Valley Speedway, Zach Chappell and crew had the task of changing a motor after having one go down on him during his heat race. The crew accomplished that in a whopping 24 minutes! With enough event points earned from the night before of the 2-day program, Chappell was still able to start on the front row and wound up winning the event after having to battle Shane Sellers and Andrew Deal for the top spot.

ADD ANOTHER SEWELL TO THE GANG -

Jared Sewell, cousin to Alex, made his AMERI-FLEX / OCRS racing debut during the Labor Day holiday. Jared was using a back up J&J Chassis from his ASCS inventory with an AJ&M Racing Engines power plant under the hood. We are looking forward to seeing the number 44 sprinter with the group some more.

$24,000 PLUS PURSE AHEAD -

The Oklahoma State Championship event is the final event before the Ameri-Flex Challenge III presented by Grand National Trailer at the Salina Highbanks on September 29th. This years version will surpass the previous record of just over $20,000 for the largest payout in series history as over $24,000 will be on the line for the $3,000 to win / $1,000 to start event this time around.
